Competition

Competition starts the weekend of 10/11 April in 2010.

Which is the middle weekend of the school holidays – keep this in mind with planning!

June long weekend is 12th & 13th: No scheduled rounds for non-competitive teams, but the weekend will be used for catch-up games, any Anzac Day games not played, plus round 17 for competitive ages.

After Round 11 (26/27 June), eleven or twelve team comps will split in two.

The middle weekend of the July school holidays (10th/11th) there will be no scheduled rounds for non-competitive teams, but there could be catch-up games for competitive ages if needed.

Updates will be posted here as they come to hand.

Canterbury District Soccer Football Association's Council of Clubs has voted in some changes to the way that football will be played at all clubs in the district this season, in anticipation of small-sided games being played by all ages up to under 12 from 2011 (as required by Football Federation Australia), as follows:

Under 6 and 7 - will play small-sided games - 4 a side on a 30m x 20m field. Most Raptors games will be played intra-club at Bennett Park with occasional gala days against other clubs

Under 8 and 9 - will play 7 a side (goalie + 6) on a 40m x 30m field in a round robin format (ie. playing against different clubs at different venues each week, with no publish of results) - same as U8 in 2009

Under 10 and 11 - will play 9 a side (goalie + 8) on a 60m x 40m field. Under 10s and Under 11s will play in a competitive format (home and away games, with semis and finals) - same as U10s in 2009.

Under 12 and up - 11 a side on a full sized field in competitive home and away games, with semis and finals. PLEASE NOTE that U12s will play on a Sunday this season, together with U13 to U21 boys, and all-girls and women’s teams.

Junior competitive divisions will consist of 12 teams (where possible), with each team playing the other once (11 rounds), then the division will be split into A (top 6) and B (bottom 6) grades. The 6 teams in each grade will then play each other once (5 rounds) followed by a full semi-final series ... weather permitting! More games for all.

Women and Girls - CDSFA are hoping to also have enough teams to form an Over 30 Women’s competition, with some concessional rules.

Matches are played:

  • U6 to U11 - Saturdays between 8.30am and 1.00pm.
  • U12 to U21 - Sundays between 9.00am and 4.45pm.
  • All Girl and Women's teams - Sundays between 9.00am and 4.45pm.
  • All Age Men - Saturday afternoons and/or Sundays between 9.00am and 4.45pm.
  • Over 35/45 Men - Saturday afternoons between 1.00pm and 4.45pm.

Players should arrive at the field at least 60 minutes before the game starts, or 60 minutes if you are setting up the field.

SMALL SIDED GAMES (SSG) FOR 2010 IN CDSFA

The CDSFA (Canterbury and District Soccer Football Association), along with other Districts throughout NSW, is committed to implementing in full the FFA's (Football Federation Australia) programme for small sided games (SSGs) for all ages 6 - 12 inclusive by 2011.

This will be done progressively and we now advise the guidelines for the 2010 season.
